Expert Vocal FC #78 - #81 (Rockstar OMBFC, Fortunate Son, Just Breathe, The End)

First off is Vocal FC #78 included in my One Man Band FC of Nickelback’s ROCKSTAR which I got a week or so ago.  Pretty easy on all instruments.

The other’s were two Pearl Jam tracks, JUST BREATHE and THE END, and the cover of Creedance Clearwater Revival’s FORTUNATE SON.  All were sightreads (well, JUST BREATHE was a 50% sightread, my controller batteries ran out half way through my first run.  Still counts though, right? ;) ).

Expert Vocal FC #76 + #77 (Porch, Ballroom Blitz)

Two more I got on the weekend, Pearl Jam’s PORCH and Sweet’s BALLROOM BLITZ.

Even Flow is still pissing me off :(

Expert Vocal FC #72 - #75 (Master Exploder, Welcome Home, War Pigs, We Are The Champions))

Hello again, fans!  It’s been a while.  Mainly due to me blowing out my throat during the AVForums Rock Band Tournament (which the legendary Paul ‘PlexShaw’ Shotton won, btw!) and trying to squeeze as many points out of MASTER EXPLODER as I could.

Tonight I had my first run at ‘singing’ for a long time and got three FC’s in the process:  Coheed and Cambria’s WELCOME HOME, Black Sabbath’s WAR PIGS and a sightread FC of Queen’s WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.  So along with the FC of Tenacious D’s MASTER EXPLODER I got back in March, this takes my current vocal FC count to 75.

Expert Vocal FC #70 + #71 (Gives You Hell, Just For Tonight)

I passed the 70th Expert FC mark tonight with a sightread FC of All American Rejects’ GIVES YOU HELL.  Also got JUST FOR TONIGHT by One Night Only that was released today.

Expert Vocal FC #63 - #69 (Garden, Down at the Whisky plus some easy ones...)

Took one step closer to the TEN FC Club tonight by finally getting GARDEN.  Also got a bunch of easy ones as well.

Expert Vocal FC #61 + #62 ((Sittin' On The) Dock of the Bay, Love Man)

Got the only two Otis Redding tracks that interested me today and was surprised at the vocal tiering (Tier 5 for DOCK OF THE BAY and Tier 6 for LOVE MAN).  After singing both of them, they are definitely over-tiered IMHO.  DOCK OF THE BAY is pretty easy with one or two slightly tricky phrases and LOVE MAN is pretty challenging but can be done with a lot of practise.  Took me a good hour to get it.

Expert Vocal FC #59 + #60 ((Don’t Fear) The Reaper, Go With The Flow)

Two easy FCs tonight, both sightreads, (DON’T FEAR) THE REAPER was probably the easiest I’ve ever done.

Expert Vocal FC #57 + #58 (Carry On Wayward Son, Little Sister)

A surprise FC tonight in the form of Kansas’ CARRY ON WAYWARD SON.  My last attempt at singing this I couldn’t even 5-star it and now I FC’d it after 2 attempts.  The other is Queen of the Stone Age’s LITTLE SISTER.

Expert Vocal FC #54 – #56 (Release, Why Go, Hangar 18)

Spurred on by my fellow vocalist Paul Shotton’s (the legendary PlexShaw!) recent accomplishment, I decided to attempt a full album vocal FC of Pearl Jam’s TEN.  Having already FC’d five of the songs, I had a bash on Sunday but didn’t really get far and only got another two FCs – RELEASE and WHY GO.  I tried for about 3 hours to get the final four songs done but I kept stumbling.  It will be mine…oh yes….it will be mine!!

I also FC’d HANGAR 18 twice today.  Yes, twice!  First time I missed the only activation window for starpower that’ll get you Gold Stars so I had to re-FC.  For some reason I couldn’t redo it and took me about half an hour to get it in the end.

Expert Vocal FC #51 – #53 (BLACK!!!! ALIVE!! TOM SAWYER!!!!)

After about 3 months trying, I FINALLY got the FCs of Pearl Jam’s BLACK and ALIVE.  There are quite a few tricky phrases in both those songs that tripped me up on every runthrough but today I finally nailed them….and what a bloody relief it was!

Also got the FC for TOM SAWYER (Original Version).  The final word of the final phrase always got me.
